This book goes a long way toward filling a substantial void regarding the implementation of “practical investment.” The vast majority of finance and investment books address theories of investment – and some do a decent job – but few demonstrate – step by step – how to implement the ideas, typically leaving the reader/investor to wonder “OK, now what do I do?”

Enter Professor Weigand’s book, which is really more of a learning system than a traditional book. It comes complete with an array of pre-built spreadsheets, each of which is explained and demonstrated in the book – all with a goal of identifying which stocks are over- and under-valued. Taken collectively, and combined with Dr. Weigand’s experience and insights on specific examples such as Google (where he likes the company, but hates the stock – and makes a clear distinction as to why) the book provides the reader with actual “case studies” demonstrating his investment approach.

As a side note, it appears that the same approach plays a substantial role in Professor Weigand’s much followed investment blog. Here is a rare chance for the reader to get inside the head of an experienced, well trained investor, and finance educator and walk away with a practical toolbox for clarifying which stocks are attractive, and why.

This book is a game changer.

There is not another book or learning tool on the market that packages as much value, easy-to-follow, understandable analysis and supplemental materials that can be manipulated to fit your needs.

The text is well written. There is no filler. Difficult concepts are broken down into short, easy to understand sections. The reader is given a step-by-step analysis on how to value stocks, synthesize what is going on in the market, and how to capitalize on this information. However, the genius behind this book is that it’s not just a book; it’s a learning tool.

When you buy the book you are given access to a multitude of spreadsheets, graphs, and reports that can be manipulated to fit your own portfolio and stock valuation needs. These resources cannot be overlooked; they give the reader the ability to do what financial professionals do: model stocks and determine their true fundamental value. These resources are designed for the reader to value as many stocks as you want. The valuations and accompanying narrative (buy or sell recommendation) contained within an attached report can then be printed (the materials are already properly formatted for printing) and presented to a client, financial professional, or an investment group in a clear and concise manner. Additionally, each chapter is covered in video lectures that are narrated by the author. I’m the type of person who needs to hear concepts in order to understand them so this feature is particularly helpful.

At this price point, purchasing this book is a steal.
